Free Smoke Alarms and Installation for DeFuniak Springs Residents

DeFuniak Springs, FL… Firefighters in the City of DeFuniak Springs are distributing and installing free 10-year battery life smoke alarms to citizens within the city limits who call and ask for one.  Fire officials say citizens can receive up to three for their residence and will install the alarms at no charge.

“Our goal is to make sure there is one smoke detector in every home in DeFuniak Springs,” says Fire Chief Ross Sheffield.  “We are grateful to the American Red Cross with whom we have partnered to make these alarms available.”  The smoke alarms are provided to firefighters by the American Red Cross through a nationwide fire prevention education campaign called Sound the Alarm: Save a Life.

All homeowners and residents of DeFuniak Springs are encouraged to call the DeFuniak Springs Fire Department at (850) 892-8515 to schedule an installation of free smoke alarms until supplies run out.  More information about the program is available on the city’s website at www.DeFuniakSprings.net. An online form is also available to schedule an installation appointment. To learn more about the national program, call the American Red Cross at 1-833-244-0724.
