City of DeFuniak Springs Earns Clean Audit Second Year in a Row

DeFuniak Springs, FL…The City of DeFuniak Springs has earned another “clean” opinion from an external auditor on its handling of public finances—the highest opinion that can be received.  The firm of Warren Averett, LLC performed the accountability audit procedures to determine whether the City complied with applicable laws and regulations and the City’s own policies and procedures.  

“We are delighted to earn this clean audit for the second consecutive fiscal year,” says the City’s Finance Director Debra Gibson who started with the city in 2018.  “New staff additions in 2017 had begun the transition to a more effective and reliable accounting system when I first arrived. We have been working hard as a team to reverse the accounting trends in the past to a much more sophisticated and reliable system.  We want all DeFuniak Springs citizens to be proud of their city, and we hope the past two audits gain the trust and confidence of taxpayers in their local government they all deserve.”
