The City of DeFuniak of Springs Begins Moving to New City Hall

Annex Staff Moved to New Location

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. – The City of DeFuniak Springs has begun moving City Hall from 71 US Highway West to the new location on Baldwin Avenue in DeFuniak Springs.  The staff working in the Annex, the small building adjacent to the main City Hall, were the first to move to vacate the building that is now for sale. The Department of Public Works moved the Code Enforcement, Human Resources, IT, Planning, and Public Relations departments to the new location in the former CHELCO building at 1350 Baldwin Avenue last week. The Department of Public Works moved in July to begin repairs and renovations to the new building.

The staff working in the main building of City Hall, which includes the Mayor, City Clerk, and Facility Rentals, will be moved throughout the week of September 19. The Finance staff will be the last department to be moved toward the end of the month as renovations are being completed to retrofit ADA-accessible payment windows at the new location. Utility payments can be made at the main City Hall until further notice.  All offices can be reached at 850-892-8500.

About The City of DeFuniak Springs:  Located in Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast, one hundred miles west of Tallahassee, the City of DeFuniak Springs is the county seat of Walton County. We are the gateway to the beaches of the Emerald Coast and home to Lake DeFuniak, one of only two spring-fed lakes in the world that is almost perfectly round. Founded in the 19th century as a resort for railroad travelers, and later the summer resort for the Chautauqua, the town welcomed presidents, poets, writers, and musicians to the charming community as a vacation destination. We still welcome travelers interested in Florida’s rich history and culture. To find out more, visit our website at www.defuniaksprings.net or call (850) 892-8500.
